ASUS GL553VD Notebook water damage Won’t Turn On Repair
Machine model: ASUS GL553VD 7th generation I5 independent display 1050 4G
Fault phenomenon: Notebook water damage
Maintenance process: clean the place of water damage first, and then hit each Inductor block and there is no Short circuit.

The power-on test current runs to 0.89 or so does not move, and the memory does not run the same current, first flash the BIOS to see. After brushing, the current is still the same, measuring all Inductor and converting VCC, only independent graphics card, all VCC, and +VCCGT are not. Regardless of the independent display and integrated display VCC, first check whether the memory has been read, and directly grab the memory SMB_DAT_DIMM and SMB_CLK_DIMM, and there is no action to read the memory at all.
Check the memory conditions +VTT_DDR, +2P5VPP, +1P2V_DUAL, these are normal, only the memory is reset to 0V, and the memory reset point of view has to the bridge and the CPU. The whole board has been checked repeatedly and I can’t see any disconnection, so I can only check one by one.

Checked the above conditions are normal, grab LPC_FRAME# and LPC_AD0-AD3 are no waves, SPI has waves. Then catch DMI_RXN0-DMI_TXP3, DMI_TXN0-DMI_TXN3 are no waves, and then catch CPU VIDSCLK VIDSOUT there are waves.

At this step, it is judged that it is not the CPU or the bridge, and the memory is also sent to the bridge and U, and the VCC of the independent display is turned on by the bridge. This machine has also been repaired several times, all of which are relatively simple faults, so I did not pay attention to when the VCC of the independent display was released.
I asked in the maintenance group, and Yixin said in the group that he had repaired a lot of this, and the independent display supply was available before the core VCC. It may be caused by a broken independent display. It is said to first remove the independent display and try again.
I played again and there is no Short circuit on the ground resistance of the independent display, and I repeatedly looked at the drawings and points, and felt that this machine should normally only display the independent display after passing the memory, so let’s ignore the independent display VCC.
First tell your peers that this is not a CPU or a bridge, and try a different bridge first. The customer also agrees to try another bridge first, if the CPU is bad, the customer will not repair it. Just replaced the bridge and still the same problem. The client didn’t want it later, so I took it back.

This machine has been taken back and put for a while. In the past few days, I have ordered the I7-7700HQ to come back. The original machine is I5-7300.I7, and the CPU is returned and replaced, and it has been displayed normally.

It’s fixed, let’s take a look at when the independent VCC and the integrated display came out.

Through the captured waveform, it can be seen that the independent display is outputting the independent display VCC after the PLT_RST# comes out 120MS, and then outputting the CPU integrated display VCC.
